1,000 Hours is the debut EP from Green Day.
Background[]
1,000 Hours was recorded in 1988 at the Art of Ears Studio in San Francisco while the band was still named Sweet Children. According to the liner notes, the entire EP was recorded and edited in 7 hours. Shortly after it was recorded, the band changed its name to Green Day.
Release[]
1,000 Hours was released in April 1989 through Lookout! Records on 7" vinyl. In 1991, all of the songs from 1,000 Hours were reissued on 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours. 1,000 Hours went out of print in August 2005 after Green Day removed its catalog from Lookout! Records, however, since March 24, 2009 it has been back in print as a bonus to the vinyl reissue of 39/Smooth through Reprise Records.
On September 15, 2009, it was re-released as part of the Ultimate Collectors Box set.
